Anyone Is At Risk Of Being Trafficked.

If you are being trafficked and do not have time to look through all the information here and want to know where to get help, go to the "Resources For Help" page. For immediate help, call the Safe House Project at the number 507-769-0819, then choose option 1. They will not report your immigration status, drug use, or  involvement in crime, they're just here to help.

If you think you see a trafficking situation near you or want to know how to recognize a trafficking situation before you enter into it, call the National Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888. They can help you understand whether there is reason for concern. You should not engage with the situation. Safely stopping trafficking requires training. If you don't know what red flags to look for, this site can help.

What Is Trafficking?

US Law defines human trafficking as the use of force, fraud or coercion to compel a person into commercial sex acts or labor against their will.

If you are being forced to have sex with someone for money, or someone is using your immigration status, drug use, or any personal situation to pressure you to have sex with someone,

you are being trafficked. You deserve better.

If you are forced to work or are being paid very little or no money for your work, you are being trafficked.

If your immigration status, drug use, financial situation, or any other personal situation is being used to make you work for an unfairly low amount of money, you are being trafficked.

If your employer is using your debt as reason to not pay you, you are being trafficking

If you are a child living in the United States, you do not need to legally prove that force or deception was used against you in order to be recognized as a victim of trafficking.

Overall, if you are being made to do something for someone else, through either force, fraud, trickery, blackmail, or the use of a personal situation like your immigration status, relationship to your trafficker, drug use, criminal history, or lack of other options, you are being trafficked. There is help for you, no matter who you are or your history, and you do not deserve this.

If you are unsure if you are being trafficked, this is ok. You can still call one of the two hotlines provided at the bottom of this page. They are happy to help identify your situation and the options available to you.
